Dr Gosia Barley

Dr Gosia Barley is the principal Orthodontist and director of Smile Time Orthodontics. Dr Barley received her Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Western Australia, where she was awarded numerous prizes including the Dr F J Simpson Prize in Dentistry, the UWA Graduates Association Prize for the student of the year, the Australian Dental Association Prize for the highest achieving student and the Kenneth S G Sutherland Prize in Preventive Dentistry.

Dr Barley pursued her Orthodontic training at the University of Sydney, completing her Masters in Orthodontics with Honours. She was awarded the Elsdon Storey Research Award from the Australian Society of Orthodontists Foundation for Research and Education, for the best research paper in Australia. She has qualified as a member of both the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh in Orthodontics. She is a Specialist Orthodontist, a full member of the Australian Dental Association, the Australian Society of Orthodontists (ASO) and a certified member of the Australasian Orthodontic Board (AOB). Dr Barley served as President of the Women in Dentistry Society and established Healing Smiles, the dental clinical volunteering program in WA for the treatment of victims of domestic violence. In 2020, she was inducted as a Fellow of the Australasian Section of the International College of Dentists and in 2022 as a Fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International. 

Dr Barley is the ASO Federal Councillor for WA and is serving on the  Federal Australian Society of Orthodontists Board and the ASO(WA) committee. 

Dr Barley consults at all of our office locations. She is committed to continuing education, having lectured locally and nationally on numerous occasions, as well as attending national and international conferences regularly. She is particularly committed to advancing technologies within Orthodontics and implementing them within our practices for the benefit of all of our patients.

Dr Barley enjoys creating beautiful, natural and healthy smiles for her patients. She welcomes all aspects of Orthodontics, from interceptive orthodontics and early management of children, adolescent treatment, aesthetic orthodontic appliances for Adults, and complex interdisciplinary orthodontic cases. She enjoys the privilege of treating families and children and witnessing the changes in their smile.

Gosia has been married to Jerome since 2007 and they have a son Zack and daughter, Vivienne. Her main hobbies are travelling, skiing, snowboarding, photography, painting and playing the piano.

Dr Frank Furfaro

Dr Frank Furfaro received his Bachelor of Science degree with Honours at the University of Western Australia in 2005, where he graduated top of his class. He was awarded numerous prizes including the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons Prize and the Wynn Needham Memorial Prize for the highest achieving student over the five years of the dentistry degree, the Western Australian College of Dental Science Prize in Restorative Dentistry, the Tom E. Scott Memorial Prize and the Eric Williams Prize in Prosthodontics, the Kenneth J G Sutherland Prize in Clinical Dentistry and the Australian Society of Orthodontists Prize in Orthodontics. After working as a general dentist for four years, Dr Furfaro went on to complete his Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) from the University of Western Australia in 2012, again graduating top of his class. 

Dr Furfaro is a member of the Australian Dental Association, the Australian Society of Orthodontists, the Australian Orthodontic Board, the World Federation of Orthodontists and the American Association of Orthodontists. Dr Furfaro has served as President for the Australian Society of Orthodontists(WA) and the Dental Specialists Society of WA.

Dr Furfaro is consulting at our Mindarie and Mount Hawthorn Offices. He is dedicated to providing his patients with exceptional orthodontic care ranging from early interceptive orthodontic treatment to comprehensive adult orthodontic treatment. He enjoys nothing more than seeing the positive changes that a great smile can make to his patients. Dr Furfaro is committed to continuing education to ensure he is at the forefront of orthodontic knowledge, regularly participating in meetings and conferences nationally and internationall.

Dr Frank grew up on his family's orchards in the beautiful Bickley Valley and Donnybrook. He has been married to his wife, Brenda, since 2008 and the have a gorgeous daughter, Alexis. Dr Furfaro enjoys spending time with his family on the orchard, taking his daughter for bike rides around the parks of Perth, jogging and football.

Dr Lloyd Buck

Dr Lloyd Buck was born and raised in Perth. He attended Christchurch Grammar School prior to study Science and Engineering at the University of Western Australia. He then completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Adelaide graduating on the Dean's list, and also his Bachelor of Science in Dentistry with First Class Honors. During his dental studies he received the J.L. Eustace Scholarship and the Dental Board of South Australia Research Scholarship. He was involved in representing the student body and was elected president of the Adelaide dental student society (AUDSS). After graduation Dr Buck worked as a general dentist at the Adelaide dental hospital and also in private practice in Adelaide, Bunbury and Sydney to ensure he had a well-rounded foundation in general dentistry prior to undertaking his specialist training in Orthodontics. He completed his Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics at the University of Sydney, where he was awarded the John Reading prize for the best tabled case. His research has been published in respected international journals including the European Journal of Orthodontics and the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. 

He enjoys the full scope of Orthodontic care, ranging from the interceptive care of young patients to correct developing orthodontic problems all the way to complex interdisciplinary adult treatment. He is an involved member of the Australian Society of Orthodontists, serving on the WA executive, and also member of the Australian Dental Association. He regularly attends national and international meetings to maintain his knowledge in the latest research and technology in Orthodontics. Dr Buck has been admitted to the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. 

His wife, Dr Jippy Buck, is also a Specialist Orthodontist and they have three young sons. Dr Buck believes in providing honest advice and in delivering an exceptionally high standard of treatment to his patients. For this reason, he would not recommend anything that he would advise to his own family. 

In his limited spare time, he really enjoys working with his hands in activities like woodworking as well as spending time with family and friends.

Dr Naomi Kohan

Dr Naomi Kohan graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Western Australia in 2010. She has gained considerable experience in general dentistry by working in remote Western Australia and the metropolitan area in both the public and private sectors. Additionally, she was a dental registrar at the Princess Margaret Hospital for Children giving her a specialist insight into paediatric dentistry. 

Dr Kohan moved to Sydney in 2013 after being accepted for the highly competitive specialist orthodontics programme at the University of Sydney. She is committed to evidence-based orthodontics and was involved in an international research project with Hiroshima University, Japan. Furthermore, she has a special interest in accelerated orthodontics and has presented on this topic at a national postgraduate meeting. 

Dr Kohan enjoys providing her patients with a full scope of orthodontic treatment ranging from early growth modification treatment to adult treatment. Dr Kohan has significant experience in Invisalign treatment for both adults and adolescents and currently holds a Diamond Invisalign status. She has a kind and caring nature and makes all her patients feel at ease in the dental chair. Dr Kohan is a certified Member of the Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in the specialist field of orthodontics. 

In addition to orthodontics, Dr Kohan loves to keep active and is a keen swimmer. She is a volunteer Surf Lifesaver at Swanbourne Nedlands and regularly competes in open water swimming events.

Dr Laura Leask

Dr Laura Leask was raised in Perth and attended St Mary's Anglican Girl's School, following which she obtained her Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours through the University of Western Australia. Dr Leask gained considerable experience working as a dentist in rural WA and subsequently Melbourne, in both the private and public sectors. These positions involved the provision of both dental education and treatment to school children and fostered her interests in the field of orthodontics. 

Dr Leask completed her Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) through the University of Sydney, with a research thesis that examined the effects of various therapeutic regimens on tooth development and root resorption in an animal model, for which she was awarded the Dentsply Research Day Prize by the University of Sydney. 

Dr Leask feels very privileged to be able to help her patients achieve healthy and happy smiles, and offers the full scope of orthodontic treatment from preventive and interceptive treatment through to adult orthodontics. She believes that clear communication is critical to treatment success and greatly enjoys getting to know her individuals behind the teeth during the course of their treatment. 

Dr Leask is committed to providing evidence-based treatment and is a member of the Australian Society of Orthodontists, Australasian Orthodontic Board, Member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (Orthodontics), Australian Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists and the World Federation of Orthodontists. 

Outside of Orthodontics, Dr Leask enjoys exploring beautiful Perth with her husband and two young daughters...usually doing 'research' to find the perfect coffee!
